So as to improve students' thinking ability and mathematical expansion capacity, cultivate their sense of numbers and experience the fun of mathematics learning, Anqing Foreign Language School held the '24 Points' smart calculation competition in the Lecture Hall on the afternoon of 13th June. There are 60 players from 12 classes participating in this competition. Each group consists of 5 players from each class. The contest takes the class as a unit and 5 students as a group. Then the group leaders draw lots and the game conducts the one-on-one competition way, adopting the team mode of 3 wins in 5 sets for promotion.
After the teacher announced the rules, the game began. Players worked in pairs, proceeding the operation with four cards for 24 points of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The fastest group to say the result will collect the cards as points and the team with the most points will win the game.
The sound of calculation method sounded continuously on the scene of the competition and the atmosphere was very warm. Some players were patient, some were thinking hard and some others were sighing because of their mistakes. After three rounds, the competition finally came to an end. Class 704 and Class 711 won the first prizes in the team competition and 14 players who performed well in the contest won individual awards of 'School-Level Arithmetic Master' and 'Class-Level Arithmetic Master' respectively.
In summary, this smart calculation competition aims to enhance the sense of teamwork through game competition, make students' thinking more flexible and agile and at the same time let students experience mathematics in a different way to enable them to learn in competition, grow in learning and enjoy the fun of learning mathematics.
